Puget Sound Climate and Weather
![[Map of Washington]](graphics/wa_map_float.gif)
The Puget Sound basin is a mixture of low rolling hills combined with
a complex maze of sheltered inland salt water and has a mild climate
characterized by wintertime clouds and rain but lots of summertime
sunshine. Most of the population of the state of Washington has
chosen to live here. The northern end of this region (around Bellingham)
is unique in that it occasionally gets blasts of cold arctic air and snow when
the rest of the Puget Sound basin has cool but mild winter weather.
