Procedural Details--Step 4

Select team members and a location for the "lander."

• Decide your approach:

The entire class cooperates on a mission (recommended if your class has about 18 students).

--OR--

The class is divided into groups, each of which cooperates on a mission (recommended if your class has more than 20 students). It works best if one groups finishes before the next group begins.

• Decide group size:

Assign two members to Mission Operations, Lander, and Publication teams. The others may have three members--16 students. Additional students would be added, in order, to the Mapping, Engineering, Science, and Navigation teams--20 students.

--OR--

You may merge teams by putting Camera with Mapping and Engineering with Navigation--6 students (one per team), 12 students (two per team), or 14 (three on the doubled teams).

• Give team members name tags. You can print a sheet of name tags for the mission or download a text version of the nametags to manipulate in your word processor.
