
This is a picture taken of the Martian 
surface from Viking lander 1 (There were two Viking Landers). This scene 
shows a rocky field. Patches of drift material and possibly bedrock are 
visible in the distance. 
 
Future Mars missions will learn more about the 
Red Planet and perhaps pave the 
way for the creation of a human habitat. We cannot take everything to Mars  
that is needed to sustain the lives of colonizers.   
Mars itself would need to provide most of the colonizer's needs.  
 Does Mars now have everything we need?
