The Triangle Spelmanslag

An open group in the Raleigh / Durham / Chapel Hill (North Carolina) that plays traditional Swedish folk music.

An informal group meeting once a week in Chapel Hill to learn and play traditional Swedish folk music. Any non-electric instrument welcome, but fiddle, nyckelharpa, spelåpipa, Härjedalspipa, voice, etc. are the traditional instruments we prefer. They really work the best for this type of music, since it evolved using those instruments. Currently, we have five fiddle players, two nyckelharpa players, and one who plays both.

Members are expected to share their knowledge and tunes, and to have fun playing Swedish and Norwegian Folk music.

We meet at Katherine Polk's House in Chapel Hill. Call her at 919-967-4967 or e-mail for directions.
