Activity: #2: Effects of Air Pollution on Plant Growth

Sulfur Dioxide Glove Box:

Concept: Students will grow plants from seeds and observe the effects of sulfur dioxide on the plants.

Materials: Glove box kit.

Procedure:

1. Students plant seeds.
2. After plants have grow and appear healthy, release sulfur dioxide.
3. Students observe and record the effects of sulfur dioxide.

Assessment:

1. Was the effect of the sulfur dioxide predictable?
2. When did you notice the effect of the sulfur dioxide on the plants?
3. Could the plant have died from some other reason?
4. If the plants were removed from the container, would have the plants recovered?
